It was a great start to a race with high expectations, where Fernando held points throughout the entire race, until lap 25, where engine woes ended Fer’s race, yet again.
After a fantastic qualifying performance Fernando qualified in 9th, but will start 8th due to a Verstappen penalty. Alonso was more than half a second ahead of team mate Vandoorne.
“We look to be in a good shape going into Saturday” Fernando said as he took 7th in a dry FP2 session.
“This is a team he loves, and his heart has always been set on staying.”
